Last week we sent our new Customer Experience Marketing Coordinator, Jessica, to Sephora to get a summer wedding makeup look done! Here is her experience:
A few weeks ago I booked an appointment to get a custom makeover at the Sephora in Chinook Mall, Calgary, and the next week took a little work-trip to get my makeup done!! I got to sleep in a bit that morning (which was nice) and then showed up to work without any makeup on (I know I’m lacking in the eyebrow department haha).
When I got to Sephora, I was greeted with friendly employees who directed me to the makeover station, where I met the lovely Evangeline Zak! I told her I was writing a blog post for a wedding gown designing company and she was happy to help with product names and tips for brides!!
Evangeline has been a makeup artist for 2 years. She asked me which parts of my face were oily/dry and what kind of look I was going for (neutral colours). She went for a classy and timeless look “so you won’t look back at your wedding photos in 10 years and question your makeup choice.” We chatted while she did my makeup and I asked her about the products and why they were a good choice for brides. When she was finished, I didn’t even recognize the person in the mirror (in a good way)! Eyebrows frame your face, so I think that’s the reason I didn’t recognize myself; my eyebrows had never looked that good!! Here is the final look (there’s a before & after at the bottom):
The power of makeup is crazy! I was so confident when I got back to work, which is the way I want to feel on my (far far far in the future) wedding day. When I got back to work everyone was shocked by the transformation from no makeup to this!! We took a couple photos in from of our new gold Lis Simon decal:
After I got home from work, my roommates also complimented my appearance, everyone loved it! (So naturally, I took more selfies) I took some photos inside, some outside, and the makeup looked good in every light! Exactly what a bride wants on her big day!!
Finally, at the end of the day, right before I took the makeup off, I took a couple more pictures (don’t mind my pajama shirt haha). The makeup lasted all day and didn’t move (which doesn’t usually happen when I do my own makeup); I was very impressed! Although I loved the makeup look, is was nice to take if off at the end of the day and have a clean fresh face.
Here is a list of all the products Evangeline used and a couple tips for brides:

Foundation ~ Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup

Contour ~ Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette
“when setting your under eye concealer, make sure not to use a product that has too much chalk in it, or it’ll cause flashback in flash photography”

Blush ~ NARS Blush in Deep Throat
Powder ~ Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Powder Foundation
“Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix Setting Spray keeps makeup in place and in great for touching up throughout the day”

“[Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Pencil Waterproof Liner] is super waterproof and is always good for weddings for the waterworks”
“an upcoming trend is definitely the bold eyebrow, they frame the face well”
I didn’t wear any false lashes, but she suggests Velour Lashes since they’re fluffy and edgy
Lipstick ~ Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in Marvelous Mauve and Nude Blush
“the reason I’m using a liquid lipstick is because it’s nice and long lasting and it is transfer proof, so you won’t leave a kiss mark on your husband”
