Fifteen fun wedding reception ideas! Everyone wants to make their wedding special and unique, so here are some fun ideas to inspire!! All ideas found on Pinterest.
1. Photo Table Cards
How adorable! Add a photo of the bride and groom at the age of the table number. Your guests can walk around to each table and see how the two of you have grown, they can take a walk down memory lane! Extremely sentimental for your family and relatives, especially mom and dad!
2. Splash Zone
Create some abstract art to hang on your wall by filling balloons with paint and attaching them to a big canvas. Leave out a couple darts (and maybe some plastic raincoats) for your guests to throw at the balloons and pop them; creating art!! You can use whatever colours of paint work best with the space you’re going to put it in. You can match the colours of the aesthetic of your room with the colours of paint you put in the balloons!
3. Guest Heart Shadow Box
Perfect for some wedding wall decor for you home! Leave a bunch of little wooden hearts in a bowl with a little sign reading something like “sign your name & put it in the shadow box!” or “write a message & drop it in the shadow box!” Great way to remember everyone at your wedding, and it looks super cute!
4. Polaroid Wall
This is a fun way to get photos of everyone to either hang in a frame, like the center photo, or collect for a wedding scrapbook!! Make sure you get everyone to sign their own photos or at least write their names! There are many ways you can make this idea your own! (Make sure you have more than one camera and plenty of film!!!)
5. Named Glasses
This cute idea prevents people from using 5 different glasses throughout the night cause they don’t know which one is theirs. It’s also a cute little gift every guest gets to take home with them! You can customize this idea any way you like; add tables seats, attach a message, or even add a task (take a photo with so and so).
6. I Spy
This is another great way to get lots of photos of your wedding! Have some sort of prize for everyone who completes the list. This is a great idea if you know lots of kids will be at your wedding, it gives them something to do so they don’t get bored!! Make sure you get film cameras so you can easily develop the images!
7. Message Bottles
Everyone loves drinking wine, so keep some bottles! Mix and match shapes and colours or collect one type of bottle; it’s completely up to you!! Put table numbers on the bottles (after you wash them) and then leave some paper for your guests to write little notes! Read them after the wedding, or on your 1 year anniversary, whenever you feel like reading cute notes from your friends and family.
Outdoor games and activities are always a fun way to entertain everyone!! The possibilities are endless! X’s & O’s, wheel of fortune, bean bag toss, giant Jenga, bocce, and bolaball are just a few options. You could also go all out and make you own outdoor dance floor!
9. Guest Wall
There are many different ways you could use this idea. You could frame a bunch of little canvases or maybe get everybody to sign one big canvas. You could get you and your partner’s letters or ever a giant wooden heart. As long as it’s a large enough surface for your guests to write little messages, the possibilities are endless!
10. Date Jar
Get all your guests to write down a date idea for you and your partner! Then whenever you felt like going somewhere different or doing something fun, take one out of the jar!! You can customize this idea to fit your wedding theme any way you like! You can use jars and large popsicle sticks, or a container and pieces of paper.
11. Bride & Groom Trivia
Usually, all the speeches at the ceremony are beautiful and moving (to tears even), but there’s always that one uncle that drags on and on about a story that’s already been told. Here is the perfect solution! They’re also great for table conversation!! Print out some interesting facts or stories about you and your partner, childhood stories and always the best!
12. Question Cards
This is actually really helpful if you need baby or pet name ideas! You can also add other questions and have little gifties for people who answer correctly! You could have questions like about wedding advice, cute date ideas, or the best memories with the bride and groom. Have a bunch of these at every table, help with conversations as well!!
13. Important Date Table Cards
What a sweet idea for table cards! Something a little different and more interesting than normal table cards. Here are some ideas for numbers: the day you met, your first date, both of your birthdays, how many years (or months) you’ve been together, number of months you’ve been engaged, the day you got engaged, number of wedding dresses you tried on before finding “the one”.
14. Wisdom Stones
Cute date idea: walk down by the river and collect some smooth stones that are somewhat flat. Then get all your guests to sign them and write cute messages or words of wisdom on them! Put them (carefully) in a glass vase which makes for a unique centerpiece for the dining room table!
15. Instagram Hashtag
And last, but not least: a tag for everyone to use on Instagram! This is a must for every wedding, it makes it easy to find photos of friends and family having fun!! Plus they’re all in one place! Create some sort of sign with the tag for everyone to use. Make sure it hasn’t been used before and that it’s unique to your wedding!!
