Everyone seems to love when we post hair inspiration photos on Instagram, so we thought it would be a wonderful idea to make a blog post full of them!
This is Lis Simon real bride Brandi and she wore our very first Jordan gown with nude tulle on the top! Brandi was previously an ICU nurse and is currently in grad school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and Joe is a senior financial analyst at Polaris.
Joe and Brandi first met in high school and started dating freshman year in college. He was quite persistent and finally after asking her on a date for the third time, she said yes!

In June of 2016, Brandi’s parents were hosting Joe’s parents for dinner at their lake house, which was where Joe had asked her to be his girlfriend many years before. Although she knew the proposal was coming, she was so surprised as he asked her to go out on the jet ski, but instead got on one knee and asked her to marry him!!

Fast forward a year and a bit to September 16, 2017, the date of their wedding. Brandi and Joe got married in Minneapolis, MN. Their ceremony was held at the Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church and the reception was at the Minneapolis Event Center. They had a full band and harp instrumental at the ceremony. Brandi gave Joe his grandpa’s watch and a note from him, and she had pieces of her grandma’s wedding dress around her bouquet. For decor, Brandi wanted neutral, with pops of burgundy for fall!
Words from the bride.
What was your favourite part of your wedding?
Actually getting married and having everyone you love in the same place.
Do you have any wedding tips and tricks for future brides?
Enjoy it! I actually loved wedding planning… It’s really important to be aware of your own feelings and know what will cause stress. This really helped me from becoming a bridezilla and I always told myself everything would be perfect no matter what! Try not to stress and enjoy the day, it goes so fast!
Big thanks to Brandi for taking the time to answer all our questions and choosing us to be part of your big day! We send our love!!

This week’s blog post is about the lovely Ashley Wamboldt, a beautiful Lis Simon real bride, and her husband, Kevin. She wore our Houston gown and looked absolutely gorgeous!!
Ashley met Kevin at one of their friend’s cottages in Orillia, nine years ago! They went to high school together, but didn’t really know each other very well. It was difficult since they were two grades apart and they were in different circles. Through the years, they had a few mutual friends and Kevin was interested in Ashley, so he got up the courage to invite her to his friend’s cottage, and the rest is history!!
Kevin and Ashley both love the outdoors and fishing, so he planned a “fishing trip” for them in Muskoka over the August long weekend. On August 1, 2015 on the drive up, he told her they weren’t actually going fishing, but that he had a surprise for her and she would have to wait until they arrived to find out what it was. He had also made cute little cards with lyrics from their favourite songs that he gave her throughout the day. The first was in the truck on the way up and it read “no I don’t ever want no other shotgun rider beside me singing to the radio”. When they arrived, she discovered he had rented a Seadoo for the day and they were going to have some fun out on the water. Not suspecting anything at this point, she enjoyed the ride! They stopped for lunch and he gave her the second card, which read “well it’s alright, it’s okay, just another day in paradise; there’s no place I’d rather be”. They went back out on the water, and then Kevin noticed an abandoned dock floating in a tiny bay. They docked the Seadoo and sat on the dock in the sunshine talking and then he gave her the last card, which read “you always had an eye for things that glitter, but I was far from being made of gold, I don’t know how, but I scraped up the money, I just never could quite tell you no”. When she looked up he was down on one knee and asked her to marry him!
A couple years later on July 8, 2017, they got married! The ceremony was held outside at Drysdale’s Tree Farm, Egbert, ON, and the reception was held in the Greenhouse at the tree farm. They held their wedding there because they envisioned a country-chic wedding, and it provided them with a more unique space than a typical barn venue. The day was filled with love, laughter, tears, and their closest family and friends (who flew in from the East to West coast of Canada). Their guests loved the laid-back atmosphere and casual attire. “It was by far the best day of our lives!”
Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos and adorable proposal story!! We wish the two of you a happily ever after!

Gorgeous bride, gorgeous wedding, gorgeous honeymoon!! This week’s blog post is about real bride Tamara and husband Nikola and all their wedding festivities.
Tamara and Nikola met in 2008 during a business class at university. They had a bunch of mutual friends, but they were only friendly acquaintances since Tamara was dating someone at the time. Four years later they ran into each other spontaneously and it was instant chemistry!
“It felt like the perfect match after all these years of anticipation. Everything truly works out for a reason.” ~ Tamara
As the planner in their relationship, Tamara was suspicious when Nikola booked a last minute weekend getaway to Victoria, BC at her favourite hotel and spa. They arrived on Friday night and went to a local restaurant for dinner and drinks. The topic of engagement came up (she was prying), and as we were walking back home to the hotel he proposed along the way! He had intended to wait until Sunday at Church & State winery, but he just couldn’t wait!
Their original plan was to elope to Santorini, but their families weren’t too happy with that idea. Instead of eloping, they had a small wedding on their patio in Victoria, BC with their closest family and friends. Then replayed their wedding on their honeymoon in Santorini and took some amazing photos!
We would like to thank Tamara for sending us all these photos and choosing us to be a part of her big day!! We wish the couple a lifetime of happiness!
This is, Zoe Fletcher, this week’s gorgeous Lis Simon real bride! She looks absolutely divine in our Erica gown from our 2013 collection (what a throwback)!
Zoe and her husband, Grant, met at a local pub in their hometown. He asked around to find out who she was and got her name from a friend. Fast forward, and he proposed on October 1, 2015, the night before they left for holidays in Florida! They got married a year and a half later on July 1, 2017, in the town of Elgin, Scotland!! The ceremony was held at St. Columa’s South Church and the reception was held at the Mansion House! Looks like a beautiful traditional wedding!!
Thank you, Zoe, for sending all these lovely photos, and choosing our gown to be part of your big day!! We wish the two of you lots of joy and love!

Alex Hollifield, this week’s Lis Simon real bride, met her husband, Ben, in graduate school at Vanderbilt University. They are absolutely adorable together!! We are obsessed with this floral arch!!!!!
On December 19, 2015, Ben proposed in Alex’s apartment in Nashville, Tennessee the morning they were getting ready to leave to spend the holidays with her family in North Carolina. They were running late, so Alex was rushing around, stuffing wrapped gifts and clothes into bags and Ben was sitting on the couch in her living room. Alex came into the living room to pack up more gifts and had her back turned to him. When she finished packing and turned back around, he was down on one knee!!!
“Although Ben and I have a lot in common, we had very different visions for our wedding day. Ben is more traditional and I am very non-traditional. After a lot of communication, compromise, and careful planning, our wedding ended up being a beautiful blend of both our personalities and values! We did a first-look instead of having the first time we saw each other be during the ceremony. Our ceremony readings included both scripture and an excerpt from one of my favorite Brené Brown books. The special music was a traditional hymn, but the Best Man (Ben’s brother, Adam) played and sang a more contemporary version on acoustic guitar. We wrote our own vows, and I had both bridesmaids and bridesmen on my side of the wedding party.” ~ Alex Hollifield
Alex and Ben got married on June 3, 2017, in Shelby North Carolina. Both the reception and ceremony were held at Slightly Different Nursery, a 106-acre daylily farm. The ceremony was on a hilltop surrounded by the South Mountains, cocktail hour was in a rustic red barn, and the reception was in a candle-lit pole tent.
Thank you, Alex, for sending us these gorgeous photos and choosing us to be part of your big day!! You looked so beautiful!

This week’s beautiful Lis Simon real bride is Kendyl Grender, wearing our Hayden gown! What a wonderful photo of the happy couple, so romantic, so perfect!
Kendyl and Aspen met at Morehead State University in Kentucky. They had both been chosen to be part of the honours program, and although they didn’t talk much their first year, they eventually moved into the same dorm and started a friendship. They randomly made excuses to see each other for months, “I can’t even begin to tell you the amount of times I needed help with something that I could totally fix, or sitting in the dorm lobby waiting to see Aspen pass by”. Finally, they told one another they liked them (not that it was obvious or anything 😉 ).
Kendyl and Aspen got married on June 10, 2017, at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky! They are both originally from Kentucky, but moved to Kansas a couple years ago. They wanted the wedding to be special to their Kentucky roots and decided what better way to do that than at a bourbon distillery!! The ceremony and reception were both wondering and had a vintage, romantic feel!
We would like to thank Kendyl for choosing us to be part of her special day, we wish you so much happiness in your life!!!

Amanda Latter, this week’s dazzling Lis Simon real bride, looks wonderful in our Faye gown!! Her and James, her husband, look so happy in these photos! What a lovely couple!
Amanda met James, her husband, at work. About 6 weeks after starting a new job, she had to do mock situations with a coach in order to graduate from her training program. “I get this drop dead gorgeous man. In my head, I was telling myself not to mess up and look like a fool or else this hot guy may never be interested in you.” Good thing she didn’t!! Later on, she got the courage to ask him out for a coffee or a drink, which he accepted. They met at a local Irish pub one night after work, and the rest is history! Amanda and James decided to do a destination wedding held at the Grand Bahia Principe Coba, in Mayan Riviera, Mexico. What a beautiful place!!!

We love this week’s Lis Simon real bride Lisa, and her husband Jeff, what an adorable couple!! She is wearing a customized version of our Hilton gown, and looks absolutely spectacular!
Lisa met Jeff online just over 7 years ago. 3 months later, after exchanging many emails, they had their first date. Fast forward to May 27th, 2017 at the Sea Cider Farm & Cider House in Victoria, BC, and they’re saying “I do”!! Lisa’s 11 year old son was a huge part of their day. He signed a commemorative wedding certificate and also walked Lisa down the aisle alongside her father.
They chose to do something beautifully unique by hiring 2 impressionistic artists from Impressions Live Art that captured the wedding ceremony in acrylic paint!! They had a food station put together by Chef Nicholas Waters from Toque Catering which included oysters, charcuterie, ginger & onion chow mein boxes, and Vietnamese salad rolls. The reception was kept simple: no speeches, no cake, no favors. “Just a great party with friends”.
We would like to thank Lisa for sending us all the photos, as well as for choosing a Lis Simon gown for her special day!! We hope you and your husband have a happy life together!!!
