Real bride, Chelsea, got married to her husband, Robbie, in September at the gorgeous Church and State Winery in BC. She looked stunning in our Hilton gown.
November’s store of the month is Aglow Bridal Lounge, located in Kamloops, BC.
How and when did you start Aglow Bridal Lounge?
Aglow Bridal Lounge opened its doors in December 2013 as an extension of an already established decorating company called Aglow Weddings. We wanted to bring a fresh and modern option to the bridal market in Kamloops and the BC interior.
Describe the store in four words:
Unique, charming, romantic and inspiring.

What is your favourite gown from the Lis Simon 2016 collection and why?
Houston is a charming gown that looks flattering on many body types. Its layered skirt is both youthful and sophisticated, depending on the bride who wears it.
The spotlight is shining bright on our gorgeous Indy gown from the new 2017 collection! This dress was the most popular at the market, both in Chicago and New York!
Indy is a beautiful dress made from delicate corded lace overlay and satin lining. It has a romantic sweetheart neckline that frames the face beautifully and an eye-catching trumpet skirt with a tiered lace train. The most popular aspect of this dress at market was the beautiful illusion back with its intricate detailing.
This dress is available in white, ivory, champagne, blush, and oyster.
A few weeks ago we shot a beautiful Fall styled shoot at Fish Creek Park in Calgary. You can read the behind-the-scenes post here! It was the beginning of October and the chill in the air had just started. Luckily the afternoon that we shot, the sun decided to come out and we had gorgeous whimsical lighting. We used our Hannah gown and the wind was on our side that night – showing off the sexy leg slit perfectly!
The past month has been a whirlwind with both the National Bridal Market Chicago and New York International Bridal Week taking place! Chicago took place from September 8-11 and New York was from October was from October 8-10. We were super excited to show off the new 2017 line, plus our new line of separates!
“Our 2017 collection is all about the delicate laces and airy ball gowns that every bride will not only feel beautiful in but will enjoy every moment of being in them.” – Anna Zhu, Creative Director, Lis Simon.

Last night (October, 4th) we had our Autumn styled shoot take place. It was a super fun shoot, put together with some local Calgary creatives;
Photographer: Teresa Renee Model: Cassidy Skovmose Hair & Makeup: Nikole. We had previously worked with Nikole and Cassidy on our 2017 photoshoot and discovered Teresa’s amazing photography through Instagram. The location was Fish Creek Provincial Park (one of the largest urban parks in North America). Fish Creek was an absolutely beautiful location and there were so many areas to take photos. It was a perfect fall evening with the right amount of cloud and sun glowing through. There was a cold wind, which made our Hannah dress move in amazing ways and Cassidy worked the camera beautifully even though she was freezing! Below are some behind-the-scenes photos. We can’t wait to get the edited professional photos back from Teresa! Make sure you follow our Instagram and Facebook page to keep up to date with any new images.
A new month equals a new store of the month! How is it October already?! This year is flying by! We caught up with Nadine from The Ivory Suite. The Ivory Suite is a sweet boutique located in St John’s, Newfoundland.
How and when did you start The Ivory Suite?
I have always wanted to have my own business and thought about having my own clothing store. When I started shopping for my own wedding gown in 2012 I fell in love with everything bridal. St. John’s needed a bridal boutique that offered both beautiful, modern gowns and an intimate shopping experience. The Ivory Suite opened its doors in November of 2013.
Describe the store in four words:
Fresh, modern, beautiful, intimate
What is your favourite part of your job?
That moment when a bride says “yes” is truly amazing, there is so much emotion…..it is a magical moment. Also getting to know so many amazing brides, hearing their engagement stories, learning about their wedding planning. I often see our brides, as we live in such a small city and I still get hugs from some of them as if we have been friends all of our lives. I also look forward to that time of the year when all the new collections are revealed, it’s just like Christmas! Choosing gowns to bring into our store is such a fun process. Of course, we want to bring in the best for our brides!
What tips would you offer to brides?
The best tips I could offer a bride would be to have an open mind, trust your consultant and don’t judge a dress by how it looks on a hanger. We always say the bride makes the dress, the dress does not make the bride. Be reasonable when it comes to your budget, and only bring people that respect your vision. Too many opinions can really ruin what should be an amazing experience.
I am so in love with all the amazing back detail. Nearly every bride that walks into our store is looking for a gown with amazing back detail…we are finding the back is sometimes more important to the bride than the front of the gown!
What is your favourite Lis Simon gown and why?
I love so many Lis Simon gowns! Hayden is perfection, with that plunging neckline and amazing lace back. Erin is another favorite at our store, it has such a simple elegance and really compliments everyone’s figure. I personally have a little crush on Felicity, that fabric is just incredible……Gwyneth is adored by so many brides. I should probably stop there before I list every Lis Simon gown.
What does 2016 have in store for The Ivory Suite?
We are nearing our third year anniversary this November and we are so excited!! It took some time to build a beautiful collection of gowns and designers that our brides here love. We opened with the idea of being a very modern boutique but found that most brides here are very traditional. Now that we have a beautiful collection of timeless gowns, we really want to expand our collection and focus on some more trendy modern gowns, which was our original intentions and we are finding more brides are starting to request a more modern look.

With the bridal markets in full swing, it seems only right to discuss the hot trends for 2017 dresses! It is fun to see the ever-evolving trends for brides-to-be and we love showing off what we have to add. We are so excited about our new 2017 collection we have lots of eye-catching new dresses for you to see! If you are coming to New York Bridal Week next week, be sure to come by and see us! We are in booth 839 from October 8-10.
Well, with the colour trend there is no excuse to not be different. This trend is perfect for the modern, non-traditional bride. These soft colours are so easy to pull off and are a nice way to be different from the traditional white colour without being too loud. A soft muted colour like this also adds an extra element of romance to the dress. If you are having a certain palette for the wedding venue, you could also try to tie your dress colour into it.
Above is our gorgeous India dress from the 2017 collection. This beauty is available champagne, blush, oyster, nude, white and ivory. The lace comes in diamond white and having a contrasting colour such as blush is absolutely gorgeous.
Can you see yourself wearing a non-traditional wedding dress colour?
