Why and how did you start/acquire Lace Bridal Couture?
I have always dreamed of owning my own retail boutique. I had never envisioned a bridal boutique; however, when the opportunity arose for me to open my own store, the country was still in the middle of the recession. My husband and I came up with the idea of Bridal Consignment! We opened our store on November 5, 2011. It’s original name was “Yours Truly, Kelly.” We opened as a bridal consignment boutique with only 6 gowns on opening day. We quickly acquired hundreds of consigned, “once-loved” gowns and did incredibly well until we kept running out of inventory. This is the main reason we started selling special order bridal gowns. We opened Lace Bridal Couture in September, 2014 and now offer 10 designers that are exclusive to our boutique! And since this time, we have opened a Plus Size bridal boutique, called “Love Curvy Bridal”, and another bridal outlet called the “Reading Bridal Outlet.” We have come along way from our opening day with only 6 wedding gowns to sell :)

What do you love most about your job?
I absolutely LOVE working with my brides and helping them find the gown of their dreams! I love getting to know my brides and their families… even after they say “YES” to their dress, we continue the relationship all the way through to their wedding day.
What tips would you offer brides?
I always suggest bringing just a couple of their most important people with them when shopping for their wedding gown. Too many opinions make it very difficult for the bride to really choose her perfect dress.
I also suggest keeping an open mind when trying on gowns. More often than not, the bride chooses a gown that she thought she would never wear!
I also let my brides know that they will “know” when it is their dress. It is a feeling they have - they may not necessarily cry or get emotional, but there is just something about the dress that makes it so special and so real.
What is your current favourite wedding dress trend?
I am LOVING the clean and classic looks! I still love the off the shoulder styles and the bateau or portrait collar necklines. I am a conservative at heart, but still love fashion as well. You can never go wrong with an Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly inspiration.
What is your favourite gown from the Lis Simon 2021 collection and why?
I have two! Maria and Molly! They both have such a beautiful, clean, classic look and the fabric is divine! I love that my brides can accessorize with belts and beautiful jewelry to make it their own look!
Any exciting news or upcoming events for Lace Bridal Couture?
We are super excited to be offering “Signature Experiences” now in our boutique! We are offering our brides private boutique appointments where they get 3 hours to shop our store privately with their bridal party! We are offering champagne and hor’deurves and a photographer to capture her experience!
What do the next few months have in store for Lace Bridal Couture?
We have some really exciting plans for growth with our sister store “Love Curvy Bridal!” We are hoping to expand our bridal plus size store in other areas of the country starting this year! Lace also has some fun fashion shows and trunk shows coming up in the next couple of months for our brides to attend in person!
