Lis Simon Bride Caroline

From Now On

The season of love continues — Lis Simon Bride Caroline and her love story! She’s wearing our very own modern vintage, Liam.

It all started when Caroline’s older sister, Stephanie, invited her then boyfriend Sean, to invite his best friend Matthew to spend the weekend. Caroline and Matthew knew about one another for a long time, but it was that weekend they were properly introduced. The two spent more time together as they both attended the same university, and the rest is history.

Matt proposed on a beautiful sunny fall day in their condo that they moved in together 3 years prior. “I couldn’t stop jumping up and down with excitement! It was an instant ‘Yes’. I did not expect it to happen in that moment, I was just elated”. Matt made reservations at their favourite French bistro in Montreal and celebrated their engagement. They shared the news with their family and celebrated with them over the weekend.

“Incredible! We scheduled 2-3 appointments at different stores, and I brought along my sister, mom, and mother-in-law”.  Although the first store they visited was a nice experience, the designers and styles were less what Caroline was looking for and nothing really caught her attention. They then went to Ma Chérie Bleue where Nathalie impressed them with her knowledge and careful choices in designers. “The store was a fairytale experience. The details of my dress just took my breath away; it was exactly how I wanted to feel on my wedding”. The veil was the next step she didn’t knew she needed: Once you put the veil on it changes everything and it was the first time, I could start to see our wedding come together.

October 9th, 2021, at Forest and Stream Club

Our reception was intimate, elegant, and timeless.

Their menus had the same monogram that was used in their invitation and ceremony card – We wanted all the details to be connected. The bouquets in the centre of the table were all whites and greens, the band kept everyone on the dance floor and the food was top notch! Their families were very important to them and decided that all tables would be round. The maid of honour and best man gave speeches between courses, as did both of their parents. After dinner, they had a curated whisky selection and cigars for the guests to enjoy in the gazebo – we wanted it to feel personal and for everyone to have a great time”.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM YOUR SPECIAL DAY

Walking down the aisle to see Matthew, surrounded by everyone we love was just so special – the overwhelming feeling of love and support was something we will both cherish for the rest of our lives.

Anecdotes from the bride:

  • We decided to do a first look before the ceremony and this gave us time to absorb the day. The butterflies you feel leading up to that moment is something I could never forget.

  • We took the time to think about the music during the ceremony and this was a special touch for us.

  • A string trio played ‘I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You’ by Elvis Presley as I walked down the aisle with my father.

  • He and Matthew built the arch we used for our wedding ceremony out of a birch tree that came from the cottage land. It was a personal touch that we felt acted a wonderful symbol for this next chapter in our lives.

PREPARATIONS AND INSPIRATIONS

I wanted it to be timeless and classic.

The couple wanted their wedding to feel like it could have been any era. Clean details and tasteful additions were also added to elevate the entire day for their guests. A tent wedding was always a dream of Caroline, but still have an elegant theme throughout.

HONEYMOON

We toured around France (including the burgundy wine region!) for two weeks and left a few days after the wedding.

From Caroline

Take it all in.

Think about your wish list and make small steps to making those details happen. While it can feel overwhelming at times, surround yourself with people that will make your dream come to life. I was given great advice to organize the hair and makeup at the venue so it limited my overall travel time.

I got to spend more time with my family and bridesmaids, which allowed me to enjoy the day even more. My mom and bridesmaids were lifesavers on the day both in supporting me and in making the details I had envisioned come to life.

Special thanks to:

My sister got married five years ago in Montreal and she loved working with many of them. We worked closely with An English Rose as well the Forest & Stream. Together they had many overlapping vendors that came highly recommended.
