Why and how did you start Brenda Babe Bridal?
As cliché as it sounds, I have ALWAYS had a love for the wedding industry! My background is in Marketing and Communications, and I feel that has been such an asset to me as I looked to bring Brenda Babe Bridal from dream to reality. Throughout the planning process, I carefully researched designers that I felt could offer brides-to-be a variety of style options that would showcase their individual personalities while celebrating their “inner babe”! In today’s 24/7 digital world of online craziness, it’s easy to lose the personal interactions that are imperative to the wedding industry. This business is fueled by emotional experiences, and I wanted Brenda Babe Bridal to provide a unique experience, highlighted by the various nuances throughout the shoppe. From customized music playlists to serve as background during private appointments to song lyrics and quotes displayed on the shoppe walls, to soft aromatherapy scents, that would all contribute to that personal one-on-one experience. Music, by its very nature, evokes emotion. Every couple has “that song” that celebrates their unique love story. Maybe it’s the song that was playing the day they met, or when they went on that first real vacation together, or the moment of the proposal. Music definitely serves as the background while couples “write the chapters” of their love story together, and is definitely a significant focus here at Brenda Babe. My ultimate hope for all of my brides-to-be is that “buying a dress” becomes secondary to celebrating this major life event and marking a point in time that will forever be unforgettable, making it even easier to “Say Yes” at Brenda Babe Bridal!

What do you love most about your job?
I one-thousand percent love connecting with my fabulous brides-to-be and creating an experience that will forever mark such a huge moment in their lives. My philosophy has always been that a bride-to-be can purchase a gown anywhere. What I truly believe sets me apart from other shops is the entire one-on-one experience we share throughout their “Say Yes” journey. It’s so much more than just “buying a dress” when you come to Brenda Babe–it truly is an individual experience! What tips would you offer brides?
This is YOUR day and YOUR dress. As much as you value the opinions of your loved ones, keep in mind that ultimately, if the dress makes you feel absolutely beautiful and radiates your unique personality–it’s definitely “Say Yes” worthy!! We definitely see brides who want to include large squads for their appointment, and that’s great! However, with larger groups, typically come more differed opinions. Just keep that in mind when deciding who to invite to your appointment. And don’t forget–the element of surprise is a great thing! The fewer people who see your dress in advance, the bigger the “WOW” factor on your special day!
What is your current favourite wedding dress trend?
Anything outside of the expected! I am in love with dresses that have a bit of an “edge” that ultimately showcase the individual personality of the bride-to-be. Whether it’s bold statement lace patterns, intricate beadwork, a hint of color, or even sparkle and feathers–I just absolutely love the edgier styles right now!
What is your favourite gown from the Lis Simon 2020 collection and why?
OMG–LUCIA for sure!!! The level of shimmer in that gown is ridiculously amazing–no photo can do it justice! And the detachable train is the perfect functional, yet fabulous, finishing touch!
Any exciting news in regards to Brenda Babe Bridal?
Actually, we did just receive some incredibly amazing news! Brenda Babe was recently honored with a 2020 Couples Choice Award via WeddingWire! What makes this honor so great is that it is based on the reviews of our Real Brenda Babe Brides who have shared their personal experiences on the site. I cannot say enough about our ridiculously fabulous brides and look forward to welcoming many more to our Brenda Babe family!
