Closet Couture

We are very excited to have Couture Closet as January's Store of the Month!!! They are located in La Grande, Kentucky, and have a beautiful boutique! Lauren and Tera, co-owners, answered a couple questions for us about the boutique and plans for the rest of 2017!!

How and when did you start Couture Closet?

We started working on the concept of Couture Closet in 2005, and by mid-2006 we had funding from a private investor and we opened our doors on January 2nd 2007 (10 years ago)!!

Describe your store in four words.

Friendly. Honest. Exceeding expectations.

What is your favourite part of your job?

We honestly love to meet and form relationships with the brides. Helping them through the process of finding their wedding gown is so great to watch and we create quite a bond with some of these amazing ladies!

What tips would you offer brides?

Go into the process with a wide open mind of what you are looking for, and if the dress that gives you all the feels isn't what you thought you wanted, that's alright! Your gut isn't wrong! If you find the dress, pull the trigger, there is nothing like the excitement and celebration of saying yes to your gown while you are standing in it and having all those wonderful feelings! Cutting the party short to go home and think about it loses the moment that you have been waiting for!

What is your current favourite wedding dress trends?

We are loving the plunging V-necks and the illusion backs, and the long lace sleeve gowns with soft flowing skirts are super dreamy and romantic.

What is your favourite gown from the Lis Simon 2017 collection and why?

We are in love with Indy for her unique flouncy back ruffles and her illusion back. And we love Idina for her sleek crepe fabric and amazing hemline and train!

What does the rest of 2017 have in store for Couture Closet?

We are doing mini facelifts at the shop and growing our collection of Extended Sized bridal gowns. Bridal sizing is very different from street clothes sizing so we have been extending our samples to sizes 10 to 28 instead of the typical size options 10 to 12. Staying customer service focused and continue bringing our very best selves and gowns to all these Kentucky area Brides!!!
