Finery Bridal Chic
Finery Bridal Chic is our Store of the Month for January!! They are located in Rochester, Minnesota, and carry both our separate pieces and gowns. Claire, the owner, took some time to answer some questions for us!
Why and how did you start Finery Bridal Chic?
Finery has been a labor of love that has developed over the past two decades! I began my career in bridal while I was still in high school and have worked off and on in several different capacities in the industry – sales, designer rep, buyer, manager… basically, you name it and I’ve done it. Not only did I always want to open my own store, but I also wanted to provide stellar service to brides. Finery was born out of a love for design, a wealth of knowledge passed on to me by amazing store owners and designers I’ve admired over the years, and a passion for helping brides find a gown that makes their heart sing. I truly feel so fortunate to be part of this amazing industry.
Describe your boutique in four words.
Intimate. Elegant. Relaxed. Personal.
What do you love most about your job?
I love when brides let me get creative with them! I love solving a problem or making changes to a gown to make a bride feel like a million bucks.
What tips would you offer brides?
1. Once you find a gown that checks all the boxes, stop shopping and seal the deal!! You can really drive yourself crazy continuing to gown shop and dresses eventually become a sea of white. There are so many other opportunities to continue to feel like a bride other than just by having the gown shopping experience.
2. Be honest with your stylist. If they don’t know what you’re looking for (or what you’re not looking for), they can’t do their job and give you the best experience possible. I promise you’re not going to hurt their feelings.
3. On the day of your wedding – cut your hanger straps out!!! Seriously. No matter how well you tuck them in, they always find a way to be part of the day and you won’t want to see them in your photos forever.
4. Keep your circle small while shopping for a gown. I always tell brides that it’s best to limit to 2-3 guests so you don’t get overwhelmed by opinions (plus, you can always host a gown reveal after you’ve made your decision!)
What is your current favourite wedding dress trend?
I’m absolutely loving subtle sparkle and layered fabrics to create texture on gowns!
What is your favourite gown from the Lis Simon 2020 collection?
I am IN LOVE with Lena! Her silhouette is incredible and her square neckline is so on trend.
Any upcoming events?
We are thrilled to host a Lis Simon trunk show January 31st to February 2nd!! ( Book your appointment here!) We also will be having a fantastic sample sale sometime in the month of February so keep your eyes peeled for some great deals!
