Lis Simon Bride Brenna
A Valentine's Day-Themed Wedding at Junto Studio, LGBTQIA+
Lis Simon bride Brenna and her partner Robyn celebrated their spring wedding at a charming vintage photo studio, bringing a splash of colours and personal touches to every detail. The day was adorned with vibrant florals that perfectly complemented the retro décor. Thanks to the incredible photography of Marie Scholz, their wedding was beautifully captured, making it a day to remember.
THE LOVE STORY
Brenna and Robyn met on the dating app HER. Their first date took place at Pennie’s in Toronto, where they spent hours in deep conversation, enjoying sliders, hot dogs, and refreshing tequila slushie drinks. “We both knew after our first date, we were both in trouble!” Even though Robyn initially said they weren’t looking for anything serious, Brenna soon changed that narrative. Since then, they’ve been inseparable, spending almost every day together.
THE PROPOSAL
The couple went to Spain and Portugal for a vacation. Brenna secretly brought a ring, planning to propose if Robyn did first. They stayed with Brenna’s best friend, Lauren, who was also in Spain, and both separately told Lauren about their proposal plans.
After visiting Lauren, they travelled to Lagos in Portugal, a certified favourite vacation spot of Brenna’s. They dressed up and went to the beach at sunset, but with rain coming in, “Robyn knew they had to make it speedy!” With a tripod set up, Robyn popped the question, and Brenna was over the moon. They celebrated with dinner and drinks.
The next day, during a hike, they found a beautiful spot above the ocean. Brenna had set up her camera, and when Robyn mentioned it would’ve been a perfect place to propose, Brenna surprised Robyn with a ring. “They were so surprised and over the moon. It was perfection!”
THE DRESS
As a curvy bride with a vision of the perfect dress, finding the right fit was challenging, as some bridal shops didn’t carry the needed size. Brenna stumbled upon More 2 Love Bridal, just down the street from her, and said, "My experience with them was AMAZING! I fell in love with the experience so much that I now work as a Bridal Stylist for them." Brenna knew Lis Simon would be the perfect choice because of the incredible customizations and simple designs available. "I fell in LOVE with PRESTON and was so happy to wear it on my big day."
WEDDING & RECEPTION
May 24, 2024, at a small vintage photo studio called Junto Studio in Toronto
The wedding was an intimate affair with only 40 of the couple’s closest friends and family in attendance. The ceremony was filled with love and vibrant colours, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. It was pure perfection from start to finish.
FAVOURITE MOMENTS
Brenna and Robyn had a tattoo artist at their wedding reception, allowing friends and family to choose from a flash sheet and get tattooed during the celebration. It was a huge hit, and everyone agreed it was one of the best parts of the wedding!
While it's hard to pick just one favourite moment, Brenna found the ceremony particularly special. Expressing her love to Robyn through personal vows meant the world to her, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room for either of them.
Robyn’s mom had passed away when they were young, and Brenna wanted to honour her in a meaningful way. She included Robyn’s mom’s favourite flowers in the ceremony florals, the bouquet, and on the tables. During the vows, Brenna revealed this tribute to Robyn, and their reaction was genuinely sweet and heartfelt.
PREPARATIONS & INSPIRATIONS
The couple wanted a retro, colourful wedding filled with vibrant reds, pinks, and oranges. Ultimately, they decided on a “Valentine’s Day” themed palette, which complemented the space beautifully.
“I lived on Pinterest! Etsy was also a huge help, as well as Instagram and Tiktok”.
HONEYMOON
Brenna and Robyn took a trip to Mexico, where they enjoyed plenty of sunshine, relaxation, and lots of swimming.
Special thanks to:
They were all mostly friends or friends of friends! It really took the weight off and we really trusted the people we worked with. IT made our day extra special knowing we had vendors who were friends in the room.
