A Blessing in Disguise

For the month of January, we have chosen our dearest Lis Simon Bride Brittany who chose to wear her customized wedding dress: Kennedy’s Bodice and Kristy’s silhouette.

Brittany and Tyler met at a bar in Downtown Denver. Brittany was living with her best friend back then. Her friend wanted to go out for the evening, but the weather didn’t cooperate. It was cold and snowy, but little did she know, she was going to meet the love of her life on the same night.“I ran into Tyler and his twin brother and we hit it off”. Tyler offered to drive them home, but she was too nervous being with a stranger: “We spent 300 dollars on an up-charged Uber because of the storm”. Brittany’s best friend, her maid of honour, unfolded their story on their wedding day and everyone had a good laugh. Who knew a blizzard can be a blessing in disguise?!

Tyler persisted the both of them to go hiking on a Saturday. “We hiked what felt like an eternity up to Diamond Lake near Nederland, Colorado”. It was nearly 17 degrees on that windy day. Brittany was suspicious about what was coming ahead but didn’t want to get her hopes up. Tyler proposed in the middle of the lake on a beautiful snowy afternoon. “I couldn'twait to plan the wedding of my dreams with this guy by my side”.

“My Mom and best friend flew out from Florida to surprise me and we all went shopping together. It was a fun day filled with lots of laughs”. Brittany couldn’t find the perfect dress until she went alone and took the time to put together something special. She was torn between two Lis Simon dresses, but Anna, the gal at Little White Dress, Downtown, mentioned that Lis Simon offers customizations. Brittany then decided to pull out inspirations from the two dresses: the lace, the style, and the silhouette. “Lis Simon created a beautiful dress for me, and I couldn’t ask for a better outcome”.

September 19, 2020 – Woodlands in Morrison Colorado.

Both the ceremony and reception were held in a barn–“a beautiful venue in the mountains”which is owned by a young couple named Janelle and Stephen Statham, two beautiful souls that made everything possible. A rustic mountain theme and cowboy boots were the main features of the day: a classic but a casual vibe. What made it even more special was that the groomsmen wore hats for the pictures and brought out the essence of the theme–a remarkable touch that made everything perfect.

Highlights from your wedding day

As a moment of memory and appreciation, Brittany danced with her uncle for the father/daughter dance–a special moment to remember her late father. “I had the nickname that my father used to call me embroidered on my veil”. It was a gift from her bridesmaids that made her day even special. Another favourite moment was when “Tyler was reading his vows and got so choked up getting them out”. Tyler has never been the emotional type of guy. His vows were heartfelt and added meaning to their relationship. “It meant a lot to me”.

Preparations and Inspirations

“We knew we wanted a country mountain feel”.

Pinterest and Facebook Marketplace were her life saver: from decorations, cupcake tables, cake stands, table numbers, etc. All their ideas came to life. “It is a passion of ours to build cool things so it worked out cheaper and easier for us”.

Honeymoon

“We were planning to go to Costa Rica, but we ended up postponing that until next year. Instead, we rented a cabin in Great Smoky Mountains National Park for a cozy long weekend!”

Words from the Bride

“Plan early. I planned our entire wedding by myself and it was very stressful and time consuming, so I would suggest letting your friends help. If you can afford a planner, HIRE ONE!

Looking back, I am very happy with all of my hard work and seeing it come to light, but it was a ton of planning, phone calls and emails. My best friend was a huge help as she planned the entire rehearsal-dinner”.

Special thanks to:

“I used the Knot.com as one of my search sites for a ton of wedding ideas and recommendations. Our venue also provided us an amazing list”.
