Back in Spring 2016, two university graduates met at a mutual friend’s party. In Tyler’s recollection, the moment he saw Meghan – it was the classic story of falling in love with the girl across the room. However, for Meghan she was oblivious, but she did remember seeing a guy with silly dance moves in a bright red high-top converse. Long story short, Meghan’s friend gave her number to Tyler and I bet you know what’s going to happen next. The day after the party, Tyler asked Meghan out for a date. Little did she know, they’ll be going for a walk around Stone Arch Bridge. However, some unexpected events aspire throughout the date that made it even more memorable; First, Meghan wore the wrong shoes and ended up having blisters, and Tyler ended the night with a parking ticket. Despite those minor setbacks, it didn’t stop the two from seeing each other.

Tyler was then called to a short-term trip to Brazil, where he shared Christ’s love and played football for the rest of Summer and Fall. But for Meghan, it was long term trip. After spending almost six months apart from each other, Tyler returned at the end of November and their story ensues. Over the next couple of months, Meghan and Tyler continued to pursue getting to know each other as they slowly developed feelings, which later grew into love. On January 2017, they have made their relationship official – and their journey as couple began with joy and excitement as they continue to grow their love for each other.

Meghan and Tyler went back to Stone Arch Bridge for a morning stroll – at nine in the morning, Tyler popped the question. “I was shocked” as Meghan said. The two spent the day as a newly engaged couple having brunch together and walking around the city. Later that day, they shared and continued celebrating thewonderful news with their friends and family. The couple announced that they are “very excited to be spending this season preparing for marriage and can’t wait to celebrate the wedding with them on October 19th.

“I had an interesting dress shopping experience, but the Lis Simon team went above and beyond to help me fix my issue”

From the very beginning, Meghan always knew she wanted to wear a Lis Simon gown. After finding a local shop, she immediately found her “chosen dress” and as a creative herself, she chose two Lis Simon separates to complete her perfect wedding dress. With Meghan’s background in the wedding industry, she finds it odd when the girl didn’t seem to know how to measure clients. A few months later, her dress comes in, but the top of her separates didn’t zip up. Luckily, Lis Simon told Meghan she can get a new top as soon as possible. She decided to look for other separate tops and so she would have enough time to get alterations.

The day before her fitting, the shop called and had received a brand-new Lis Simon top in her size. The style was little different that what she originally picked but as soon as she put it on “It was perfect! It was like that top came just for me!”. In the end, everything turned out great – she happily wore a Lis Simon dress on the day of their wedding and turned out to be just as shehad hoped.

Both the wedding and reception was held at the same venue. During the cocktail hour, their family and close friends helped in rearranging the room for dinner. Meghan spent weeks on planning and putting groups together to easily change the room over into a reception; and as one bride would hope, “it went off flawlessly without any issues”. She watched everything unfold from a smaller room and was amazing to see her family and friends working so hard just to make their wedding day more special.

“One of my favourite pieces of our reception was having small cakes at each table. Dessert and centerpieces in one! It was a money saver and I found the perfect sized cakes in the perfect colours”. Their head table was adorned with gorgeous red glass as a memory to her mother. “She decorated our home growing up with beautiful red glass and it was great to have it there on my wedding day to remember her”. From the natural brick walls, café lights hanging from the ceiling to the copper, and burgundy accents we brought in – the sentiment of the venue spoke to Meghan and Tyler as couple. It is “simple, easy going, and welcoming to all”.

Meghan’s absolute favourite moments was getting ready with her girls... who doesn’t?! And a sweet gesture from Tyler who sent her a heartfelt video in the morning to calm her down for their special day, “It’s a special keepsake”.

Burgundy, navy and accents of taupe and copper were the colour scheme of the wedding. “Pinterest was my main way of finding inspiration, but I really took designing our wedding into my hands and made it my own.” Meghan, who appreciates the art of creativity did all of the stationery, signs and décor for her wedding – a personal touch to make it special. Their wedding also kicked off with her stunning stationery business, Meghan Rust Design. “I love the wedding industry and creating unique details for my wedding was something that I wanted to bring to so many other couples”.

Words from the Bride:

“Embrace your own creativity!”

- Meghan Rust

My wedding was a huge representation of my creativity and helped me see potential in myself.”

“Also don’t be afraid to ask your friends and family for help. We couldn’t have done it without them and all my plans and creativity would have gone to waste without their willingness to help and put into action all the things I had planned.”

Special thanks to:

“I have so many talented friends and family that we were able to do most of it ourselves. My aunt helped coordinate everything the day of the wedding, along with a friend who helped with the ceremony and rehearsal”.
