Nathan and Sydney met at a church retreat in Mississippi on a kayaking trip. She was 14 and he was 15; he was also the first guy she was attracted to. Nathan was “that” guy in the group that made everyone laugh. “He was so handsome, and he was a friend to everyone. I was so drawn to his kindness and humor. I remember thinking how every girl must be crazy about him where he went to school”.

As days went by, she noticed that Nathan was paying more attention to her than anyone else and quickly realized they had a mutual attraction to each other. They sat next to each other on the bus ride home and exchanged numbers. “I’m so glad I decided to go on that trip.” Looks like she made a right decision hey?

T H E P R O P O S A L

January 15th, 2019

It was a beautiful night. There was a bonfire with the family listening to music, and of course, they wouldn’t miss having some drinks. Nathan asked Sydney to dance when a slower song played. As they were dancing, he told her how much he loved her, and the special moment has finally come: Nathan went down on one knee, professed his love for Sydney in front of the entire family, and asked her to be his wife. “Everyone began filming and I started crying! I said yes of course!”.

T H E D R E S S

“My dress shopping experience was extensive”. Sydney went to four popular boutiques in Louisiana before she found “the one”. Thanks to Natasha Marie Bridal, the fifth and final boutique she visited until she finally said “yes”to the dress! “She was one of the only retailers in Louisiana carrying Lis Simon dresses, and I am so grateful I found her”.

“There is so much greenery and foliage out here (currently writing this from bed out here for our anniversary!) that the fern details on the back paired perfectly.”

“I couldn’t have chosen a more intimate reception venue. It was perfect”

The wedding reception was truly a winter wonderland: beautiful lighting, Christmas trees, and music that made the night even magical. “The highlight of my reception was when my bridesmaids and I performed a surprise-choreographed routine with cowgirl hats and sparkly sneakers”. She couldn’t have chosen a more intimate venue. It was perfect.

Highlights from your wedding day

During the ceremony, the couple gave roses to their mothers and laid a rose on the feet of the statue of Mary. Sydney also choreographed a six-minute secret routine with her bridesmaids for the guests at the reception – “it was one of the highlights of our day!”.

Another favourite moment of Sydney was her dad seeing her dressed up as a bride. She’s very close with her dad and this was something they had both been waiting for. “Growing up, I was always a daddy’s girl, so this was a very special moment for us”.

Preparations and Inspirations

“I wanted a winter wedding with Christmas lights and cool temperatures”.

South Louisiana was always hot and humid, so she knew that having a December wedding would be the perfect weather along with the exciting anticipation of Christmas right around the corner!

Her inspiration was Witney Carson McAllister’s wedding. She is a professional dancer who had a winter wedding in the show. It was beyond perfection; it was so dreamy with such class and detailed beauty – it was the magic she was aiming for.

Honeymoon

We went to the beautiful beaches of Mexico! We stayed in Playa Del Carmen at the Grande Luxxe resort. It was incredible.
