Lis Simon Bride Ashley
This week's blog post is about the lovely Ashley Wamboldt, a beautiful Lis Simon real bride, and her husband, Kevin. She wore our Houston gown and looked absolutely gorgeous!!
Ashley met Kevin at one of their friend's cottages in Orillia, nine years ago! They went to high school together, but didn't really know each other very well. It was difficult since they were two grades apart and they were in different circles. Through the years, they had a few mutual friends and Kevin was interested in Ashley, so he got up the courage to invite her to his friend's cottage, and the rest is history!!
Kevin and Ashley both love the outdoors and fishing, so he planned a "fishing trip" for them in Muskoka over the August long weekend. On August 1, 2015 on the drive up, he told her they weren't actually going fishing, but that he had a surprise for her and she would have to wait until they arrived to find out what it was. He had also made cute little cards with lyrics from their favourite songs that he gave her throughout the day. The first was in the truck on the way up and it read "no I don't ever want no other shotgun rider beside me singing to the radio". When they arrived, she discovered he had rented a Seadoo for the day and they were going to have some fun out on the water. Not suspecting anything at this point, she enjoyed the ride! They stopped for lunch and he gave her the second card, which read "well it's alright, it's okay, just another day in paradise; there's no place I'd rather be". They went back out on the water, and then Kevin noticed an abandoned dock floating in a tiny bay. They docked the Seadoo and sat on the dock in the sunshine talking and then he gave her the last card, which read "you always had an eye for things that glitter, but I was far from being made of gold, I don't know how, but I scraped up the money, I just never could quite tell you no". When she looked up he was down on one knee and asked her to marry him!
A couple years later on July 8, 2017, they got married! The ceremony was held outside at Drysdale's Tree Farm, Egbert, ON, and the reception was held in the Greenhouse at the tree farm. They held their wedding there because they envisioned a country-chic wedding, and it provided them with a more unique space than a typical barn venue. The day was filled with love, laughter, tears, and their closest family and friends (who flew in from the East to West coast of Canada). Their guests loved the laid-back atmosphere and casual attire. "It was by far the best day of our lives!”
Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos and adorable proposal story!! We wish the two of you a happily ever after!
