Sweet Autumn Nuptials in Weatherford

Lis Simon Bride Michaela and Caleb exchanged vows in a breathtaking and intimate setting at The Brooks at Weatherford. Their fall wedding was filled with personal touches, featuring a romantic colour palette of champagne, pink, and white, beautifully complemented by the venue’s lush greenery.

THE LOVE STORY

Michaela and Caleb met three years ago while attending Texas Tech University. Their paths crossed when they were both invited to the same Bible study group, where a friendship slowly began to form. Their friendship grew over time, and with a little encouragement from Caleb’s roommate, he built up the courage to ask for Michaela’s number. A few days later, they went on their first lunch date— “I even skipped my class that day so that I could hang out with him!”

Rooted in their shared love for Jesus and passion for serving the Lord, their relationship is built on faith, support, and a sense of safety. “We prioritize making each other feel seen in struggles and victories, and we love celebrating the small moments in life”. Some of their favourite activities include bowling, taking long walks, enjoying desserts, and spending time with their cat, Kitty.

THE PROPOSAL

October 13th, 2023

Caleb and Michaela had talked about a rough timeline for their engagement, so she knew he was planning something—she just wasn’t sure when. Eager for the moment to arrive, she and her sister even picked out a special dress for the occasion. The anticipation grew as she waited for the big day.

One Friday, during their usual weekend date night, Caleb asked Michaela to wear the dress she had chosen. She could hardly contain her excitement as she got ready. When he arrived, he greeted her with flowers and took her to a beautiful restaurant. Before dinner, he suggested a walk, and she happily agreed.

“As we were walking, he began talking about how excited he was for our future together, got down on one knee, and popped the question”. A couple of their friends were there to capture the moment, making it even more magical than Michaela had ever dreamed.

After the proposal, they enjoyed an intimate dinner before sharing the exciting news with friends and family. The next day, Michaela was surprised with a celebration surrounded by all their favorite people, making the engagement even more special.

THE DRESS

“My dress shopping experience was every bit of magical”.  Surrounded by her stepmom, sister, grandma, and mother-in-law, she felt so loved and supported.

At the second appointment of the day, she found the one. With the stylist’s help, Michaela tried on a few dresses, but the moment she put this dress on, she knew—it was perfect. “My family heard me audibly say “Oh wow!” and we all knew it was the one”.

“I fell in love with the beautiful simplicity of the dress. It was perfectly classic and timeless, and I couldn’t wait to show my husband on wedding day”

WEDDING & RECEPTION

September 14, 2024, in Weatherford, TX

Michaela and Caleb’s reception was fun, lighthearted, and magical. “It was so indescribable to have all of our favorite people in the same room to celebrate our new stage of life. They shared a meal, enjoyed the company of loved ones, and danced the night away.

The reception hall had a beautifully rustic charm, making it feel like a scene from a fairytale. “My favourite part of our reception was a private last dance before having a bubble send off”.

FAVOURITE MOMENTS

The ring bearer pillow and flower girl dress were made from the material of Michaela’s late mother’s wedding dress. They also set up a table with pictures from her wedding and special mementos, including her Bible.

One of Michaela’s favourite moments was having her dad walk her down the aisle and seeing Caleb at the end of the altar. “It was so surreal knowing that the moment we had planned and prepared for months was finally happening.”

PREPARATIONS & INSPIRATIONS

Michaela envisioned a wedding that felt classic and timeless. She chose a colour palette of champagne, pink, white, and abundant greenery, which beautifully complemented the wooden features of their venue. The goal was to create a peaceful and intimate atmosphere.

During the planning process, Michaela drew much of her inspiration from Pinterest, creating multiple boards for different aspects of the day, including table setups, bridesmaid gifts, and hair and makeup. She also found helpful tips and tricks from previous brides on Instagram, which ensured that every small detail was carefully thought through, making the day run smoothly.
