Lake House Wedding in Missouri

Lis Simon Bride Sidney and Baylor exchanged vows at a charming family lake house, surrounded by an intimate gathering of loved ones and a cozy, woodsy atmosphere. Their ceremony was followed by a boat send-off, where they shared a private first dance—just the two of them—cherishing their first moments as newlyweds.

THE LOVE STORY

Sidney and Baylor met on their first day of college. “I took one look at him and knew I was in trouble!” They started as friends, but in 2017, their friendship blossomed into something more. Since then, they’ve shared countless milestones, faced challenges like a pandemic and job changes, and celebrated life’s victories together. Through it all, their bond has only grown stronger and more beautiful.

THE PROPOSAL

January 1st, 2024

On New Year’s Day, Baylor took Sidney to the steps of the Adler Planetarium, one of their favourite spots in Chicago. It was freezing, but the view of the skyline was stunning. This spot was special to them—it was where they decided to move to Chicago during a previous visit. A friend was hiding nearby to capture the moment. As they stood there, Baylor got down on one knee and proposed. It was simple, beautiful, and unforgettable.

THE DRESS

Sidney went to five different shops and tried on about 30 dresses. “I am not a quick-decision person; I really need to take my time and see all of my options”. However, throughout the process, the PENELOPE dress was the only one that gave her that “the one” feeling. Though she still needed time to make her final choice, she was captivated by the dress's uniqueness. “I remember seeing it on the rack of options the bridal stylist chose for me and being intrigued, as it was within the parameters of what I had asked for, but so unique and ornate.”

WEDDING & RECEPTION

On November 9th, 2024, Sidney and Baylor got married at Baylor’s Family Lake House on Table Rock Lake in Missouri. The ceremony was small, with just 30 close family members. The reception was held later in Springfield, MO, at The Savoy Ballroom, with around 110 guests. It was a bigger celebration, full of family and friends.

The reception was a fun, lively party with music they loved—60s and 70s hits, jazz, and early 2000s hip hop. It was a beautiful reunion of loved ones, old and new. The night was filled with laughter, dancing, and Sidney’s signature Mezcal Margarita cocktail, which was a big hit. They ended the night at a local rooftop bar and lounge, making it an unforgettable celebration.

FAVOURITE MOMENTS

The couple had a boat sent off after their recessional, marking one of their few private moments of the day. They shared their true first dance on the boat, took Polaroids of each other, which later served as their cake topper at the reception. It was beautiful, private, serene, and perfect.

PREPARATIONS & INSPIRATIONS

Sidney used Pinterest to help plan her dream day. The ceremony had a cozy fall vibe with vintage and antique touches, creating an intimate, woodsy living room atmosphere. The reception combined elegance with fun, featuring vintage details, a lively dance party, and a focus on comfort and community.

HONEYMOON

Sidney and Baylor spent their honeymoon in Cancún, Mexico.

Ask your community for help! Don’t try to take on everything yourselves. Your friends and families want to help you, let them. Also, an unpopular opinion, but invite those friends you were once close with, but may not fully keep up with, if you want to. We did and are so happy with the beautiful reunions we had with those that were with us at the beginning of our relationship. What better a time to reconvene than for the love they witnessed the start of! Keep yourselves in mind. Do what you can to make it a fun event for all, but this day is about YOU and anyone who doesn’t get that isn’t worth your energy.
