A Contemporary Wedding in Kansas City

This Avent Orangery spring wedding effortlessly combines timeless elegance with a contemporary vibe. With a monochromatic color palette accented by touches of champagne and the refined beauty of pearls, the day felt like a scene straight out of a Hollywood movie. THE LOVE STORY

Molli and Garrett’s love story began in 2017 during their freshman year of college when their friend groups collided. Throughout college, Molli and Garrett were the best of friends, though their bond remained strictly platonic. It wasn’t until after they graduated in 2020 that their relationship blossomed into something more. From that point on, the rest was history.

THE PROPOSAL

September 8th, 2022

Molli was completely surprised during a family vacation in La Jolla, California. The family had planned to take photos at the beachfront, and while Molli’s sister distracted her, Garrett and their son Maverick prepared for a moment she would never forget. When Molli turned around, she saw Garrett kneeling beside their 7-month-old son, who was wearing a bib that read, “Mommy, will you marry Daddy?” The photos captured the raw emotion of the moment, creating a memory that was both beautiful and deeply special. “La Jolla CA will always hold a special place in our hearts and we plan to take our future kids/family back to visit”.

THE DRESS

Molli found dress shopping to be surprisingly effortless. She had originally scheduled appointments at four bridal shops but discovered the one during her very first appointment. Her wedding dress turned out to be the sixth dress she had ever tried on, making the experience both quick and memorable.

WEDDING & RECEPTION

April 27, 2024, at Avent Orangery, Kansas City, KS.

Molli and Garrett’s cocktail hour Dreamy and magical – “It was like a movie with the crazy storms we had that started right after the ceremony”. The reception was unforgettable, as downpours created a unique and special atmosphere. The all-glass venue became even more magical as rain poured down the walls, creating a romantic atmosphere. It was a true celebration, with the bride, groom, and guests never leaving the dance floor. They also had a custom greenery backdrop wall that added a fun touch for photos, which guests shared the next day.

FAVOURITE MOMENTS

One of Molli’s most cherished moments was the first look with Garrett. When he turned around and held her hands, she felt an overwhelming sense of calm and peace, as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. It was a breath of fresh air—”He is my person and the one who calms my nerves”. It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment filled with pure happiness.

Another favorite memory was the ceremony itself. Walking down the aisle, hand in hand with her dad, was an unforgettable experience. Surrounded by family and friends, all there to witness and celebrate their love, it was a moment of joy and connection she will treasure forever.

“Our son was our ring bearer which was such a special moment and he walked down the aisle like a champ”. Having a baby before marriage added even more meaningful moments to their wedding day, and their son also joined them at the end of their first dance.

For the grand entrance, they placed the cake in the center of the dance floor, which led directly into a toast and cake cutting with all eyes on them – “I loved doing it this way” This approach had made sure the guests were able to fully experience the special moment.

During the grand entrance, Molli was on Garrett’s shoulder, getting the party hyped up and ready to enjoy the perfect evening ahead.
