Weddings 826
This month we’re featuring Weddings 826 as our store of the month! They are located in Chicago, Illinois. Suzi, the owner, took some time to answer some of our questions.
Why and how did you start Weddings 826?
I managed the store for 2 1/2 years and already felt it was my baby. After getting my degree in Fashion Design and sewing a few wedding dresses, I realized I loved the business aspect more than the design and sewing. When the offer came to own the business, I jumped at the opportunity… even though I was only 25 years old and didn’t have any business education!! Shopping was always natural for me and having a take-charge attitude.
Describe your store in four words.
Welcoming, fun, lovely, charming.
What do you love most about your job?
Helping brides find the dress, but more importantly the complete bridal look!
What tips would you offer brides?
It is okay to step away from tradition and/or practicality and do what is going to make you happy! It’s your day and you want to make sure you are feeling like a million bucks!! After 16+ years in the bridal industry, even I decided to elope!!
What is your current favourite wedding dress trend?
Jumpsuits and detachable trains!
What is your favourite gown from the Lis Simon 2019 collection and why?
We are all loving Kaye and our brides are too! Our sample is in Oyster so you can really see the intricate lace detail.
Any exciting news in regards to Weddings 826?
We are welcoming Suzi’s first baby to the 826 family! Baby boy Olsa will be hanging out at the shop to make brides smile!
What do the next few months have in store for Weddings 826?
Along with new dresses from August market, we will be having our annual sample sale in November where brides get an accelerated discount for gowns sold off the rack! We will also be hosting a “Sip and See” at the end of August and in December – newly engaged brides can come to a presentation hosted by one of our great stylists to learn all about the wedding gown process while sipping complimentary champagne and sweets!

They are exactly what we were looking for as far as customer service, unique designs (without being trendy), and building a trusting and long relationship. It is hard to find designers that you love their styles, as well as looking forward to seeing them twice a year! They have become bridal family!
